Today, our world is so often virtual, digital, filled with sound bites and fake
news. Does this not stir within our hearts a yearning for the real, authentic,
natural, genuine, and spontaneous? This chapter bears good news. There
is such a leader who inserted himself into our world in such an unobtrusive,
humble way it was hardly noticed. Yet to this day He continues to inspire,
motivate, and comfort some, while puzzling, intriguing and disturbing others.

He is the Master Servant, who came to serve, not to be served. He is the
truth, beauty, and goodness of God. He freely chose to dwell in the lowliest
of places, our humanity. His love and kindness are boundless. He is the
way, the truth, and the life. He is the just one who railed against injustice. All
the miracles Jesus performed had a purpose – to reveal his divinity as Son
of God and the depth of the Father’s love for humanity. So, all his miracles
focused on the senses, not on healing toothaches or stomach aches: He
healed the blind so they could see God’s works; he healed the deaf and
mute so they could hear and proclaim God’s words; he cured the lame so
they could spread God’s love, and raised the dead to life, so they could
once again praise the Lord of Life.

As St. Paul puts it, he who was without sin was made sin to show us the
depth of the Father’s love for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). Above all, he is the
forgiveness of God who on the cross showed us what forgiveness looks like.
All the scripture passages accompanying this chapter bear this out. With
total certainty, we can put our faith in him in whom there is no trace of
corruption or addiction and, following his example, make the world a better
            place.
