While our deepest human needs are to be loved, to belong, and to be
valued, our highest human destiny is to be able to love and to bless others
impartially and indiscriminately, as God loves all. As the Son of Man, Jesus
showed us the way and gave us the way:
• Love God with our whole being.
• Love others as we love ourselves.
• Love one another as he has loved us.
• Love our enemies by forgiving them from the heart.
This love includes not judging others but rather trying to understand them,
being tolerant, and giving others the benefit of the doubt. Achieving this
profound destiny is made possible best by drawing on the inexhaustible
source of God’s love through contemplative prayer, silence, and solitude.
