The greatest kingdom of all is the kingdom of God, who is invisible yet
revealed, powerful yet vulnerable, almighty yet humble, like water which
always flows to the lowest place. That kingdom involves having the right
relationship with God, other people, ourselves, and all of God’s creation. All
human beings are invited to be part of that kingdom and be open to
receiving its blessings and benefits, freely and graciously given.
Especially in our times, it is important to highlight that our gender is given to
us by God. Male and female, we have been created in the image and
likeness of God, who can hold that tension together, and who is both fruitful
and receptive. Male and female psychology and spirituality are different,
unique, and to be respected.
In like manner, larger and smaller nations and institutions should strive to
have just and caring relationships of collaboration and cooperation with
each other, thinking of the good of the other as much as of their own
interests, and as distinct entities, humbly honoring each other. The low or
lowly here represents humility. When God ultimately rules with humility and
honor within large nations, then the members of small nations can
reciprocate and honor God, desiring to be with God in God’s great kingdom.
This coming together in the lowliness of humility benefits all.
