All the darkness in the world cannot snuff out the tiniest candle that has the
power to be visible from great distances and illuminate the darkest of nights.
So too the Word of God serves as a guiding light for one who is grounded in
that Word, who listens to it and is attentive to its content.
The Spirit of Jesus, who is the Word made flesh and Light of the world, can
penetrate to the deepest realms of any inner darkness - our painful
emotions, our negative attitudes, our hidden addictions - bringing healing
and wholeness to us and liberate us from whatever darkness still binds us.
Like the bronze serpent having no poison in it that Moses raised up in the
desert, the Master or Son of God has no poison, no sin, no darkness within
him. Looking upon him with faith and being one with him in intimate prayer
brings one not only forgiveness and healing but also strength and wisdom
for the purpose of being a positive force for good in the world.
