a Psalm 37:1-9 (Do not fret because of the wicked; do not be envious of
wrongdoers, for they will soon fade like the grass, and wither like the green
herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy
security. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your
heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will
make your vindication shine like the light, and the justice of your cause like
the noonday. Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret
over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret - it leads only to evil. For
the wicked shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the
land.)
Matthew 26:50-56
b Ephesians 3:16-21 (I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may
grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through
his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are
being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to
comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height
and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that
you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who by the power
at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can
ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations, forever and ever. Amen.)
