This chapter, challenging to interpret, begins with a hint at Incarnation, that
reality of God taking on our humanity so that we could become divine. That
the King of Kings would be so humble as to be born of a young maiden in
the countryside of Galilee and grow up so ordinarily as a carpenter or
tradesman as to be unrecognized is truly a mystery of faith.

The next stanzas shift the focus to contrasting leadership styles. Priceless
are the leaders in imitating the King of Kings who, in his ordinariness, came
to serve and not to be served. Unfortunately, far too many world leaders use
fear, domination, and control to selfishly hang on to power, which devolves
into corruption and blatant misuse of authority.

This chapter, ending with a statement about people claiming they did it
themselves, continues to inspire the world in terms of what leadership
            should be.

The manner in which Jesus calmly and resolutely entered into his passion,
completing his mission with his death on the cross - “It is finished” - modeled
for us genuine leadership which seeks to do what is in line with the will of
            God.
