Near the center of the book, this chapter is full to the brim with wisdom,
beginning with the title of finding fullness and perfection in weakness and
imperfection. An insight capturing this wisdom is when we are humble, open
and honest enough to share our weakness with our brothers and sisters.
This frees them to be humble, open and honest enough to share their
weakness with us, and together we grow.
It is not surprising, then, that those who are filled with the Spirit of the Living
God would be innocent and trusting like newborn infants, for that Spirit flows
out of the heart of an innocent and trusting God. Within that apparent
weakness is the invincible power of powerlessness, the paradox of divine
life, and love at work within us.
That mystery touches on our human sexuality, for we are made Imago Dei,
in the image and likeness of God, who alone can hold male and female
energy together in harmonious tension. When we use that precious gift of
our human sexuality in harmony with the will of our Creator, we are in touch
with an eternal power of love that offers us dignity, serenity, and integrity.
Content in our relationship with our God, who is love, we can practice the
spirituality of letting go, live in moderation, and avoid excess in all its forms.
