1999: Visit to Mary’s Rose Garden at St. Vincent De Paul
In 1999, Keith Hoang, faced significant challenges as he worked tirelessly to establish a successful business after graduating from college. Despite his relentless efforts and ambition, he struggled to achieve financial stability and success. This financial uncertainty also affected his personal life, as he was not in a position to support his desire to marry his now wife, Tracy, when she expressed her wish for them to get married.
Feeling overwhelmed and in need of divine guidance, Keith decided to visit St. Vincent De Paul Church in Los Angeles, California. This church held special significance for him, as he had visited it with his mother during his childhood. On this second visit, as an adult, Keith was drawn to Mary’s Garden—a serene and sacred space within the church. There, he sought God’s guidance and support through earnest prayer.
Keith prayed fervently, seeking guidance and the strength to overcome his struggles. He made a heartfelt promise that if God fulfilled his wishes and blessed him with what he needed, he would devote his life to serving Him. After a period of deep prayer and contemplation, Keith experienced a profound sense of divine presence and reassurance. He felt that God was affirming his path and promising that blessings would come within the next five years.
Upon returning home, Keith was filled with renewed hope and excitement. He shared this sense of divine promise with Tracy, and with a heart full of faith, he made a commitment to her. Despite the challenges they faced, Keith confidently promised that in five years, they would be married, trusting that God’s guidance would carry them through their struggles and bring forth the blessings he had prayed for. This moment marked a turning point in Keith’s life, setting him on a path of purpose and devotion, committed to serving God and fulfilling the promises he had made.

2004
2004: God’s Blessings & Calling
In 2004, after achieving the goals he believed were divinely promised, Keith proposed to Tracy, marking a pivotal moment in their journey together. While this milestone was a significant achievement, it was soon followed by a new challenge that would test his faith and commitment to the promises he had made to God.
A homeless street performer crossed his path, and despite objections from his family, Keith decided to offer the man a room in his home for six months. This decision was not only difficult but also strained his relationship with Tracy and disrupted their plans to start a family. However, Keith felt a deep, spiritual obligation to honor his promise to God, even when the path was uncertain.
During this time, Keith dedicated himself to teaching the homeless individual valuable life lessons centered on love, trust, and faith in action for his daily life. These interactions ignited a deep desire within him to help others uncover the truth, eventually leading to his calling to write the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching. However, the journey ahead was overshadowed by self-doubt. He felt unqualified for the task, particularly since he had never owned a Bible or read a single page of it. In fact, throughout his academic years, he had never fully read any book, relying instead on summaries and key points. The Bible seemed like a daunting reference work that required a depth of study and interpretation he didn’t feel capable of achieving.
This internal struggle led Keith to divert his focus toward wealth creation to support charitable causes, hoping that financial contributions could serve as his form of service to God. He found success in e-commerce and saw real estate as another promising avenue for income. However, his wife believed that Keith’s true calling was to restore the truth through writing rather than pursuing financial success to satisfy the divine calling he felt deep within. Despite her belief, Keith remained convinced that achieving financial success would allow him to make a more significant impact. He reasoned that this approach would enable him to contribute more effectively to God’s work than by starting a writing project he felt ill-prepared for, one that would likely take an indefinite amount of time to complete.
2007: Call to Mary's Rose Garden & Miracle Candles
In 2007, Keith felt a deep calling from Mother Mary to visit her rose garden at St. Vincent De Paul Church, a call that came after nearly two years of resisting God’s will for him to write the Christian version of the Tao Te Ching. His wife, Tracy, strongly advised against the visit, especially since it meant going to downtown Los Angeles after midnight—a time and place filled with potential danger. Despite her concerns, Keith decided to go, assuring her he would return home safely.
At this point in his life, Keith felt uncertain about his future due to the financial burdens he had recently created, compounded by a sense of having disobeyed God, which weighed heavily on him. He had lost eight homes during the real estate crisis and prayed fervently for a second chance to fulfill his true calling. Despite feeling unqualified for the task ahead, he could not ignore the deep conviction within him to visit the rose garden.
Upon his arrival, he came across Richard, a homeless man who was sleeping next to Mary’s Rose Garden at the church. Curious, Keith asked Richard why he was there, and he recalled Richard politely replying, “I don’t sleep on church property, but for the past two or three hours, Mary kept waking me up, asking me to meet her in front of the garden. I know the church security will ask me to move when they see me sleeping in the halls, but my heart is not at ease unless I come to see Mary.” This revelation astonished Keith, as he had received the same request from Mary to meet her at the garden while praying the Rosary at home.
Keith soon discovered that Richard had an impressive knowledge of Bible scriptures. Inspired by Richard’s ability to recite any bible verses, Keith saw this as a divine opportunity to learn more about the Bible and how to apply its teachings to his life. It was as if Jesus was speaking to Keith in parables through Richard’s words. One evening, as Richard shared his insights, another homeless man passing by was drawn to Richard’s impressive knowledge of the scriptures and joined their discussion.
Over the course of three months, Keith and Richard met late in the evening for five-hour sessions, where Keith learned valuable spiritual lessons. Richard’s teachings deeply resonated with Keith, reinforcing the importance of prayer in his spiritual journey. Richard guided Keith through various prayers and encouraged him to incorporate them into his daily life. Richard guided Keith in prayer, showing him different prayers he could say at home, and emphasized the power of prayer in his spiritual journey. During these sessions, Richard also spoke about the crisis within the Church, which deeply troubled Keith. Although he struggled to accept this at first, Richard’s words stayed with him, compelling Keith to fulfill his promise to God by completing the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching. Richard’s example reminded Keith that if God could call upon a homeless man to recite the Bible, then Keith, too, could be called upon to write the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching.
After three months of meeting regularly, Richard informed Keith that he would be leaving the next day—on his birthday—and would not return. They spent their final day together at Tony’s on the Redondo Beach Pier, making the most of their last moments. As they walked along the boardwalk, Richard suddenly stopped, raised his hands high, and asked Keith if he could feel the power and glory of God from the ocean. Unsure of how to respond, Keith remained silent, watching Richard praise God.
Richard was notably different from others in the homeless community: he maintained good hygiene, never asked for money, and consistently declined Keith’s offers for food or drinks. Feeling embarrassed for not having a proper birthday gift, Keith gave Richard $10 in an envelope, which was all the cash he had with him. Richard reassured Keith that everything he had shared was the truth, including his name. He even offered to show Keith his driver’s license as proof of his identity.
Before they parted ways, Richard asked if Keith had any final questions. Caught off guard, Keith said no. They said their goodbyes, and Keith went home, hoping to see Richard the next day. However, when Keith visited their usual meeting spot across from the church, Richard was nowhere to be found. Keith inquired about Richard’s whereabouts with his friend, only to be told he didn’t know anyone by that name. Keith spent the next two weeks searching for Richard day and night, but he had disappeared without a trace.
After his encounter with Richard, Keith felt the need for a designated place to pray, inspired by Richard’s constant reminders to pray daily. He set up an altar in his living room and began his daily prayer. During one of his prayers, Keith asked God to reveal His presence by keeping all the votive candles burning whenever he prayed. For six months, Keith prayed for an hour each day, and during this time, he noticed that the candles he lit continued to burn brightly, even when they had no wax left, leaving only the wick. Although his mother innocently disposed of the votive candles during one of her visits, Keith retrieved them from the trash. She continued to throw them away whenever she visited, so Keith decided to hide them in a storage box. God asked Keith to keep this miraculous occurrence a secret for a year, so he told no one, not even his wife. Keith saw this experience as confirmation that God was with him and that he was on the right path to fulfilling the promise God had given him.

2008-2012: Public Speaking & Early Version of BFG Handbook
Keith’s encounter with the homeless man had profound consequences, leading him to make transformative decisions that would shape his life in unexpected ways. He chose to step away from his thriving e-commerce business and dedicated the next five years (2007-2012) to studying the Bible and Eastern spirituality, driven by a newfound sense of purpose.
In 2008, Keith joined a public speaking organization. Despite receiving the highest votes for best speaker four times in a row, he faced strong opposition from club members when he continued to share his Christian faith. During his fourth speech, a club officer, visibly angry with Keith’s religious content, threatened to expel him from the organization. This confrontation, which occurred in front of all the members, left Keith deeply embarrassed. The only support came from a woman who intervened to calm the situation, asserting that Keith had the right to share his personal story. Despite winning for best speaker, no one else came to his defense, not even a fellow Catholic member. Disheartened and feeling unsupported, Keith vowed not to return unless a Catholic priest attended the next meeting—a request he thought was unlikely and almost absurd.
The next morning, while praying the Rosary in bed, Keith remained troubled by the recent events. He felt divinely guided to attend a Benediction prayer after Sunday Mass, a service he had never heard of or understood before. Trusting this inner calling, he attended the Benediction led by Fr. John Tran. To his surprise, Fr. John expressed genuine interest in joining Keith at the next meeting. This unexpected encounter strengthened Keith’s faith in his efforts to become a public speaker, deepening his belief that with God, nothing is impossible.
In 2009, Dr. Michael Downey—author of several books, a professor of theology, and the editor of The New Dictionary of Catholic Spirituality—generously offered to review Keith’s BFG manuscript. After three months, Keith and Dr. Downey scheduled a meeting to discuss the manuscript. Dr. Downey was impressed with the work and emphasized its significance for the world, particularly for audiences in China. During their coffee shop meeting, an unknown woman in a green floral dress approached Keith and said, “You fill the room with light and joy.” Dr. Downey, puzzled by this interaction, asked if Keith knew the woman, to which Keith responded with confusion. This encounter occurred at a time when Keith was feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility of his mission to reach people not just in the West but also in the East. He viewed it as a divine sign that he was on the right path.
In 2010, Keith made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, driven by a desire to deepen his spiritual journey and enrich his understanding of the faith. This journey was more than a physical trip; it was a transformative experience that gave him a deeper appreciation for the Bible and a closer connection to God’s love and Jesus’ teachings.
During his time in Jerusalem, Keith was immersed in the rich historical and spiritual landscape of the city. Walking through the ancient streets and visiting sacred sites allowed him to experience the Bible’s stories in a tangible way. The pilgrimage offered him a unique opportunity to see and feel the places where pivotal moments in Jesus’ life occurred. This firsthand experience enabled him to visualize these stories with a new depth and clarity, enhancing his understanding of their significance.
As Keith explored the holy sites, he drew powerful parallels between Jesus’s life and his own experiences. The pilgrimage not only deepened his knowledge of biblical events but also provided him with insights into how Jesus’ teachings could be applied to his own life. This journey marked a significant milestone in his spiritual development, as it helped him see the connections between ancient scripture and contemporary faith. These experiences continued to profoundly shape Keith’s understanding of faith and spirituality long after his return. His journey through the holy city became a cornerstone of his spiritual life, serving as a foundational influence for spiritual fulfillment. It guided him as he explored and deepened his relationship with God, providing clarity and direction in his spiritual journey.
In early 2012, Keith had the remarkable opportunity to receive support from Derek Lin, an established and best-selling author renowned in the Tao genre. Derek Lin’s assistance was instrumental in completing an early Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching. His unexpected yet deeply significant contribution brought an invaluable layer of credibility and depth to the project. It reassured Keith that he was on the right path and that his efforts to merge Christian and Taoist teachings were both meaningful and impactful. Derek’s guidance and input were greatly appreciated, providing Keith with practical assistance and a sense of divine validation. This experience reinforced Keith’s belief that God was orchestrating the right connections and resources to help him fulfill the promise of God, deepening Keith’s trust in the spiritual journey he was on.
Following the passing of his beloved grandmother, Nhu Pham, on August 9, 2012, Keith felt an intensified resolve to complete his book. Remarkably, just an hour after her death, as Keith said his final goodbye and expressed his promise to God to finish the book, his grandmother began to shed tears—a miraculous sign that profoundly moved him. This significant moment led Keith to make a promise to God: he would complete the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching by the end of the year.
By December 2012, Keith had finalized an early version of the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching, which is known today as the BFG Handbook. He dedicated this work to his grandmother’s memory, reflecting her lasting impact on his life and faith. To honor her further, Keith teamed up with a friend to create a song titled “Nhu Pham,” inspired by the eulogy he had delivered at her funeral mass. This song was crafted as a heartfelt tribute, celebrating her enduring legacy and the deep affection she had shown him throughout his life.
Moreover, Keith was given a divine promise that a bishop from the Catholic Church would join him as a co-author to assist in revising the BFG Handbook. This collaboration was intended to not only refine the book but also to launch a movement aimed at restoring the truth and spreading its message to every nation. The promise of this partnership strengthened Keith’s belief that God would always be there to guide his mission and that his efforts would continually receive divine intervention.
2014: Keeping the Faith
After completing the early version of the BFG Handbook in 2012, Keith spent the following two years reaching out to Church leaders, eager to present his vision of restoring the truth through the BFG Handbook. Despite his tireless efforts and unwavering conviction, he could not secure their support. By 2014, his prolonged absence from his business due to his dedication to this mission led to unforeseen and overwhelming challenges. These challenges made it increasingly difficult for Keith and his wife to provide for their five children. The business, which had once thrived, collapsed, leaving the couple in financial hardship.
After dedicating seven years to studying, writing, and seeking support from churches for his BFG Handbook, the business collapsed, resulting in a severe financial crisis. Yet, even in the face of these trials, Keith’s faith did not waver. He prayed daily, seeking God’s strength and guidance to navigate the difficult path. He prayed for the strength to stay focused on God and to fulfill the purpose he believed had been divinely given to him.
Over the next three years, Keith continued to serve God with even greater dedication while working tirelessly to rebuild his business. Despite the challenges, he remained steadfast in believing God was with him. His faith became his anchor, providing him with the courage to persevere. Throughout these trials and tribulations, Keith held onto a strong hope that divine restoration would eventually come. Even in the darkest moments, his heart was filled with immense joy, knowing that God’s presence was near and that the promise he had received would one day be fulfilled.

2017: Restoration, Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie & Family History
God’s blessings began to unfold on Father’s Day in 2017. As Keith drove home from his father’s house after celebrating with family, he noticed a commercial building for sale or lease. This was an incredible opportunity, as he had been searching for a new space due to his current lease set to double in just a few months. It was the perfect mixed-use property he had always hoped for, allowing him to work while staying close to his children.
Unfortunately, Keith hadn’t set aside any savings and wasn’t prepared to make a large property purchase, especially with the business struggling to pay its lease on time and his low credit score. Despite these challenges, he wasn’t discouraged from pursuing the building. Keith felt strongly that a miracle was about to happen. When he called the real estate agent and met him at the property, he confidently said, “God will help me buy it.”
By the grace of God, a series of miraculous events began to take place. Keith and his wife discovered banks that were willing to approve the loan for the purchase, and their credit score was cleaned up just in time for the escrow to close. Best of all, Keith’s father, determined to help, reached out to several sources to secure the funds needed for the down payment.
In the midst of gathering sufficient funds for the building’s down payment, Keith made a drastic and seemingly illogical decision. He donated nearly $10,000 just before closing escrow and loaned another $10,000 to a friend on the verge of losing his business. He only told his wife, Tracy, fully aware that others would consider it a foolish and reckless decision that jeopardized the property purchase. When Keith and Tracy arrived at the escrow office to sign the final documents, they were $15,000 short of the $40,000 required and had only three hours to deposit the remaining balance before the bank closed. As they exited the escrow office and settled into their car, Tracy asked, “How are we going to get the money?” Keith replied calmly, “What God started, He will finish.”
Back at their office, Keith felt compelled to check the mailbox. Inside, he found an envelope containing a $16,000 check from a customer who had recently placed a large order with their business. They rushed to the bank and made the deposit just in time for the escrow company to process the payment that same evening. The next day, they received the keys to the property, and Tracy was left speechless at how everything came together so miraculously.
During this same time, God fulfilled another promise by connecting Keith with a bishop to serve as co-author of the BFG Handbook. Keith and Tracy attended the Religious Education Congress at the Anaheim Convention Center, where Keith thoroughly reviewed several speakers’ bios to determine which ones to listen to, carefully planning his day for the event. However, on their way to the event, the booklet containing his schedule slipped from Tracy’s hands and flew out of the car window, causing Keith significant distress. This unexpected incident led Keith to suspect that it might be part of God’s plan, possibly guiding them to different speakers than they had originally intended.
The following day, Keith and Tracy arrived late for a session they had planned to attend, only to be informed by security that the room was already full. The security staff suggested they listen to Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie, who was speaking in a nearby room. When the security guard took a brief break, Keith and Tracy chose to enter their originally intended room, where they found empty seats. However, Keith soon began to experience a rapid heartbeat, shivers, and sweats, which he felt was a divine sign that he was meant to attend Archbishop Sylvain’s session instead. He left the room, asked Tracy to stay and take notes, and made his way to the archbishop’s presentation.
After listening to Archbishop Sylvain’s presentation, Keith felt a compelling urge to discuss his vision for the BFG Handbook with him. Recognizing the importance of this encounter, Keith reached out to Archbishop Sylvain, who, inspired by their conversation, agreed to join him in his mission. A few months later, Archbishop Sylvain became the co-author of the BFG Handbook, fulfilling a promise Keith believed was divinely guided.
Together, they undertook a comprehensive revision of the first edition, incorporating relevant Bible scriptures to deepen its impact. This collaborative effort led to the publication of a second edition, which featured detailed commentaries for each chapter. This new edition aimed to provide readers with deeper insights and a richer understanding of the text, furthering Keith’s mission to restore the truth.
During this period of divine intervention, Keith found himself questioning, “Why me?” The answer came from his father, Tam Hoang, who reminded him of their family’s deep faith in God and shared stories of their ancestors’ sacrifices. Keith learned that his paternal great-great-grandfather, Hoang Lenh Thu, died a martyr for the faith in North Vietnam. Following his martyrdom, Keith’s maternal great-grandfather, Nguyen Huy Riem, and great-grandmother, Nguyen Thi Riem, built Phuong Duc Catholic Church in Nam Dinh, North Vietnam. Keith’s paternal grandparents, Hoàng Van Mao (Ông Chánh Mao) and Nguyễn Thì Ty (Ba Van) dedicated their lives to serving the poor and ensuring that the deceased received proper burials. Keith’s father also played a significant role in restoring Phuong Duc Catholic Church in North Vietnam and Chi Hoa Catholic Church in South Vietnam.
After discovering his family’s profound faith and their significant sacrifices for the Church, Keith felt a deep sense of divine responsibility to continue their legacy. This newfound awareness of their dedication to the faith reinforced Keith’s commitment to fulfilling God’s will in his own life. The connection to his family’s spiritual heritage provided him with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to advance the mission that had been entrusted to him.

2018: Archbishop José H. Gómez of Los Angeles & Pope Francis
Keith received support from Archbishop José H. Gómez, who forwarded Keith’s letter to Pope Francis, seeking his blessing and guidance. In response, Msgr. Paolo Borgia conveyed the Holy Father’s message, informing Keith that Pope Francis had received his letter and appreciated Keith’s devoted sentiments. The Pope assured that he would keep Keith in his prayers and invoked God’s blessings of joy and peace upon him and his family, adding, “With every good wish.”
Keith’s Letter to the Pope:
The Tao Te Ching is a non-religious book that reveals profound spiritual principles. It is eighty-one verses about finding, orienting ourselves toward, and then following the flow of energy and spirit in our life, trusting it both to guide our actions and amplify our efforts to achieve our best possible life. It is an eternal message that strongly influenced other schools of Chinese philosophy and religion, including Buddhism, Confucianism, and Legalism, which was interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts when originally introduced to China. Second to the Bible, this classic text is the most translated book in the world with a universal message that transcends culture and time written 2500 years ago.
This began my five-year journey of biblical and spiritual study to complete the first Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching. It features a text of the Tao Te Ching that’s infused with language from the Bible to clarify themes common to both books, and serves to begin a meaningful conversation without religious differences because the core principles share a common truth. The words speak to the heart with simple, direct, and profound wisdom helping one live a fulfilling life.
From 2017 to 2019, Fr. Brian Nunes, who had previously served as the secretary to Archbishop José H. Gómez, played a pivotal role in Keith’s spiritual journey. Fr. Nunes provided invaluable guidance and support, helping Keith navigate the many challenges and opportunities that emerged as he worked to fulfill his divine promise. His spiritual direction was a clear reflection of God’s loving presence in Keith’s life, offering both encouragement and practical wisdom. Today, Fr. Nunes serves as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where he plays a vital role in supporting the spiritual needs of the community.

2019: Book Presentation, Fr. Michael Barry, & St. Thérèse of Lisieux (Little Flower)
In 2019, as Keith and Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie were in the final stages of revising the BFG Handbook, carefully incorporating Bible verses to strengthen its message, Keith suddenly became seriously ill. The unexpected health crisis escalated quickly, leading to an emergency room visit where he underwent urgent surgery. This unforeseen event occurred at the pivotal moment when their work on the Handbook was nearing completion, adding a profound sense of trial and significance to their efforts.
Despite his serious condition, Keith was concerned that the BFG video presentation, intended for Pope Francis, might not be completed before Msgr. Luigi Bonazzi, the nuncio of Canada, left for Rome. The urgency weighed heavily on his mind, especially as he faced the looming prospect of surgery. On May 29, the day before his operation, Keith’s wife called to share an unexpected message from a Christian calendar he had received for his birthday. This calendar, known for its brief yet meaningful messages and scriptures, held a passage on May 29 that resonated deeply with Keith. The message was strikingly relevant, providing him with a sense of comfort and divine reassurance at a time when he needed it most.

After receiving the encouraging message from his wife, Keith felt reassured that everything would be alright. The operation, which lasted four to five hours, was successful, and Keith spent a few days recovering in the hospital. After his discharge, he quickly returned home to finish the video presentation and immediately sent it to Msgr. Luigi Bonazzi. The revised BFG Handbook and video presentation arrived just hours before Msgr. Bonazzi was set to leave for Rome for the nuncio gathering in June 2019. Msgr. Bonazzi, with his supporting letter to Pope Francis, mentioned he will deliver the materials to the Substitute Secretariat of State, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra.
On October 1, Keith had a profound meeting with Fr. Michael Barry from San Bernardino. During their conversation, Keith described the story of a homeless man named Richard and the powerful message Richard had shared with him. Fr. Barry stopped Keith early in their conversation and responded that Richard was sharing the prophecies of Our Lady of Good Success. Not knowing anything about the prophecies, Keith was surprised by Fr. Barry’s insight, realizing that the message closely aligned with what Richard had shared.
After the meeting with Fr. Barry, as Keith and his cousin made their way down the building ramp toward their car, they were suddenly surrounded by an extraordinary fragrance of roses. This unexpected and beautiful aroma filled the air, creating a serene and almost mystical atmosphere. Keith immediately called his wife to describe the experience. When he returned home, she told him that October 1st is the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, affectionately known as The Little Flower. Keith felt certain that St. Thérèse was interceding for him, further affirming the spiritual significance of the moment.

2020: The Light of Jesus & Holy Mother Mary's Visit
On April 12, 2020, Easter Sunday, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Keith and his thirteen-year-old daughter, Lexis, encountered an unusual event while watching an online Mass service from home. They noticed a sudden, bright light that briefly illuminated their hallway and living room. Initially, they thought little of it. However, two weeks later, Keith’s wife, Tracy, was discussing the incident with Caterina Krai, the parish faith director at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church. After speaking to Caterina, Tracy inquired about the location where Keith had seen the light. He pointed to a spot on the wall midway down the hallway, approximately five feet from the floor. To Keith’s amazement, Tracy revealed that she had placed a picture frame directly on the opposite side of that wall in their room, which read, “He Is Risen (Matthew 28:6).”
Keith was taken aback by the revelation and shared this experience with Fr. Michael Barry. Fr. Barry responded with the insight:
“The Lord has a very specific mission for you. He is asking you to bring His Church back, back to the true faith, back to true and chaste marriage, back to true priesthood, back to chastity, back to the Holy Spirit. How to do that is a great awakening. There can be no compromising any more. Eucharist is vital. I will offer a mass once a month for you and your family. Tomorrow, I will offer it for you.”
On October 24, 2020, Keith’s twelve-year-old daughter, Paige, had a profound dream that revealed the Word of God from Jeremiah 22-23. Despite not having read these chapters before and not being an active Bible reader, Paige recounted the dream in detail, which closely aligned with the passages from Jeremiah. Keith’s wife, Tracy, recorded Paige’s account, capturing the significance of the dream.
Paige’s miraculous dream brought Keith back to a conversation he had in 2007 with Richard, a homeless man who warned that evil had seeped into the church through its cracks, causing division among the clergy and the congregation and within each group. The connection between Paige’s dream and Richard’s warning felt profoundly significant as if they were being called to prepare for the greatest spiritual battle between good and evil.
On December 20, 2020, another miraculous event took place involving Paige during a Mass at St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Paige heard her name called out twice in a quiet yet unmistakable voice, initially believing it came from either her father, Keith, or her sister, Lexis, who were standing to her right and left. When Paige turned around, she saw an illuminated and divine presence of Mother Mary standing several feet away with her arms outstretched. Paige was uncertain how to tell her parents about Mother Mary’s visit during Mass, she chose to keep it a secret, worried about their reaction.
Three months later, Paige shared her experience with her father after he noticed her increased dedication to daily prayers. Although she hesitated to tell him, he kept asking why she prayed so often throughout the day, prompting her to finally share Mother Mary’s visit. When he asked about Mary’s appearance, Paige described her as resembling the statue of Mary in their living room. Inspired by Mother Mary’s visit, Paige encouraged her family to pray to the Rosary together regularly and began fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays. Her dedication positively influenced her siblings, motivating them to adopt similar practices.
Keith was deeply moved by his daughter’s dedication and transformation, leading him to believe that God was guiding the family toward a richer prayer life. Observing his family’s dedication to prayer has deepened Keith’s faith and renewed his mission to fulfill God’s promise of uniting the nation by restoring the truth for all people He is deeply grateful for the mercy and grace that Our Holy Mother Mary has given to Paige, seeing it as a powerful confirmation of his purpose in life.

Keith and Tracy, together with Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie OMI, Fr. Michael Barry, and Caterina Krai, collaborated to establish the BFG movement. The mission of the BFG (Built For God) Movement is to restore the truth of our faith in a new way through the BFG Handbook for a New Evangelization.
Restoring this lost truth is an important call to holiness from the church, aiming to build God’s army of saints and make disciples of all nations. This BFG Handbook fosters meaningful dialogue, enabling us to set aside political and religious differences in order to embrace a shared principle: universal truth. It is a universal language of truth people can easily understand, expanding into different cultures, histories, and creeds of other faiths. This language transcends boundaries and fosters connections among all individuals, highlighting our shared humanity and common purpose. It will align with the moral values and cultural truths of our modern society, renewing our spirits as we explore the beauty, goodness, and truths of our faith.
The BFG movement aspires to awaken humanity to a life of truth. In a world overwhelmed by noise and misinformation—where political and social media crises obscure truth and wisdom—the BFG Handbook provides clarity and spiritual nourishment. This wisdom, rooted in the truth of our faith, is crucial for overcoming confusion and renewing our hope in God’s goodness.
In the face of rising darkness, the BFG Handbook offers a necessary weapon: the truth. As Jesus said in John 8:32, “…the truth will set you free.” By coming together under God’s guidance, we can ignite the BFG movement and fulfill our call to holiness. In His goodness, we find our greatness and work towards restoring truth and establishing true justice for all.
2022: Light of the Holy Spirit and the Five Signs from God for the New Evangelization: Bishop's Coat of Arms
In January 2022, Keith faced a terrifying situation when his kayak capsized off the coast of Newport Beach. Although he was wearing a life jacket, it was inadequately sized and not properly secured, significantly increasing the danger he was in. Thankfully, Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie, who was nearby, noticed Keith’s distress and quickly maneuvered his sailboard through the water. Covering approximately 150 meters, Archbishop Lavoie managed to reach Keith and assist him back to shore safely.
Later that same afternoon, around three o’clock, Keith and Archbishop Lavoie were walking along the beach when they drew the attention of a middle-aged woman standing on the balcony of her beachfront home on the second floor. The woman called out to them, claiming she had seen a bright light surrounding Keith from a distance of nearly half a mile. Given the clear and sunny weather, this observation was particularly striking. Both Keith and Archbishop Lavoie were intrigued by this unusual claim. Keith, however, felt a deep sense of reassurance, interpreting the light as a sign of the Holy Spirit’s protection during his near-drowning ordeal.
This encounter prompted Keith to reflect on similar experiences from his past. Nearly fifteen years earlier, a woman in a floral green dress had approached him and remarked on how he seemed to fill the room with light and joy. This happened while Keith was discussing his BFG manuscript with Dr. Michael Downey. On another occasion, while praying the Rosary at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, a young man in his mid-twenties fell to his knees in front of Keith, embraced him tightly, and wept for twenty minutes before quietly leaving. Keith saw this as a profound sign that the young man had recognized a light of hope within him, perhaps reflecting the comforting presence and intercession of Our Holy Mother Mary. These miraculous experiences deepened Keith’s conviction in the divine protection and guidance he had experienced throughout his journey.
Bishop’s Coat of Arms: Five Signs from God
In 2007, God promised Keith that if he took up the cross and followed Jesus, the Lord’s presence would become clear. Fifteen years later, on May 29, 2022, Keith had the opportunity to meet with Bishop Kevin W. Vann of the Diocese of Orange. During their conversation, Keith shared the vision God had revealed to him for the New Evangelization, emphasizing the BFG Handbook as a tool for restoring the truth of the faith. Bishop Vann affirmed Keith’s vision and its alignment with the ongoing efforts to share the gospel at Christ Cathedral, stating, “There is no better place than Christ’s Cathedral for the New Evangelization.”
In the weeks that followed, Keith sensed a divine call to present the bishop with special gifts, which he believed were heavenly signs. It was only later, when Keith received a booklet of Christ Cathedral from the bishop’s private library, that he understood the significance of these five gifts. Astonishingly, the five divine signs offered to the bishop matched perfectly with the five symbolic images on Bishop Vann’s coat of arms. This served as God’s promise to Keith, confirming His divine presence and guidance in their mission to build up the Kingdom of God and restore the truth to all nations.
First Sign from God: Trees and Rivers and Streams
God revealed to Keith that the restoration of truth would begin in a land abundant with trees and flowing rivers and streams. This land, rooted in the East, is where the people’s faith is unwavering. It is a place where the blood of martyrs has flowed like water, nourishing everything it touches. It is from this sacred ground that the Gospel will spread far and wide, renewing the spirit of those who receive it and bearing good fruit throughout the world.
Keith understood that this divine message was clearly illustrated in the teachings of the BFG Handbook. The handbook encapsulates the essence of this revelation, offering a guide to the spiritual renewal that God has promised. Recognizing the importance of this message, Keith felt compelled to share it with Bishop Kevin W. Vann.
In recognition of this profound divine revelation, Keith presented Bishop Kevin W. Vann with a copy of his BFG Handbook as a powerful symbol of God’s guidance and the initiation of a new era in evangelization. This gesture was not merely ceremonial but carried deep spiritual significance, marking the commencement of a transformative period dedicated to spreading the Gospel in a new way and renewing faith across the world. Keith hoped that the BFG Handbook would serve as a crucial tool in this spiritual revival, encapsulating and transmitting the truth that God had revealed to him.
The importance of this act is eloquently captured by Ezekiel 17:8: “It was planted in good soil beside abundant waters so that it would produce branches and bear fruit, and become a splendid vine.” This verse offers a vivid illustration of the teachings embedded in the BFG Handbook. It metaphorically represents that, like a tree planted in fertile soil by flowing waters, the principles and insights in the handbook are meant to nourish and cultivate spiritual growth. Just as trees drawing sustenance from rivers can thrive and produce fruit, the teachings of the BFG Handbook are designed to provide spiritual nourishment, fostering renewal and strength in the faith of individuals.
By presenting this handbook to Bishop Vann, Keith emphasized its crucial role in nurturing a spiritual awakening centered on truth in the modern world. He believed that it would help to cultivate a deeper understanding of the Gospel, much like the fertile soil that supports the growth of a vine, and ultimately contribute to a broader and more vibrant expression of faith. This act of offering the handbook was not only a reflection of Keith’s commitment to the divine mission but also a hope that it would serve as a cornerstone for spiritual revival, guiding believers toward a deeper and more fruitful engagement with their faith.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. ~ Psalm 1:3
The BFG Handbook is not a different gospel but a presentation of the Gospel that is new through its ardor, methods, and expression. It offers a snapshot of the Gospel, aimed at proclaiming Christ to all people, regardless of their background or beliefs. Recognizing the importance of this work, Keith, along with Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie and Msgr. Luigi Bonazzi, wrote to Pope Francis in 2019. In Keith’s letter, he highlighted how the BFG Handbook, like water, flows to renew our spirit and seek the truth.
Keith wrote, “The Spirit of God is like a river of living water and flows to every corner of the world. When water encounters an obstacle such as a rock, it does not attempt to destroy the obstacle, but rather flows around, over, or under it. We can learn from this and apply it to life when we encounter an obstacle. Similarly, the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching flows like water. It uses simple spiritual principles we can easily receive and understand without creating obstacles. It will connect with the moral and cultural values of our modern society—Christians and Non-Christians alike—to renew our spirit and seek the truth.”
On September 24, 2022, a crucial moment of divine confirmation occurred when Fr. Michael Barry, while praying with Bishop Kevin W. Vann and Keith, received a divine message, “God Sends.” This message was a powerful and clear sign that would become a crucial turning point in the spiritual journey of both Bishop Vann and Keith. This message underscored the sacred nature of their mission and marked a transformative moment in their journey, offering clear guidance and confirming that they were on the right path.
Weeks later, inspired by this divine insight, Bishop Vann felt a divine calling to Phuong Duc Catholic Church in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. This location held special significance as it was closely linked to the roots of a pivotal religious movement that began in the sixteenth century. This area of Vietnam is historically significant, marking the beginning of a religious movement that spread throughout the country in the sixteenth century. The journey of this movement began in 1524 when Duarte Coelho’s Portuguese fleet arrived in Hội An, central Vietnam. The fleet came for trade but also brought Catholic missionaries, who were crucial in introducing Christianity to the region. In 1533, a missionary named I-nê-khu arrived in Nam Định, northern Vietnam, leaving an indelible mark on the country’s cultural and religious landscape. This early mission is a testament to the enduring legacy of faith that continues to shape Vietnamese society today.
On January 1, 2023, the divine message given to Fr. Michael Barry—“God Sends”—reached its fulfillment in a momentous event. On this day, Bishop Kevin W. Vann adopted Keith Hoang as his Spiritual Son in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. This adoption not only honored the enduring legacy of faith but also marked the beginning of a new chapter in their shared mission to proclaim the Gospel across the world. It took place in Keith’s ancestral homeland, carrying with it a blessing that resonated with the rich spiritual heritage of the land—a land known for its abundant natural beauty, including countless trees and flowing rivers and streams that stretch in every direction. The people of Nam Dinh now recognize Bishop Vann as their Spiritual Father, underscoring the deep impact of this event and its alignment with their mission to spread the Gospel.
This first sign from God became evident during their visit to Vietnam. This country is renowned for its deeply devout people and historical significance as a place where the sacrifices of martyrs have deeply influenced the spiritual landscape. Specifically, Nam Dinh stands as a crucial center for evangelization in Vietnam. This region represents the starting point for restoring truth and the New Evangelization, aligning with the divine plan that designates the East as the birthplace of this spiritual renewal.
The landscape of Nam Dinh, with its lush greenery, flowing rivers, and abundant streams, mirrors the nurturing qualities of the BFG Handbook. Just as the fertile land supports a thriving ecosystem, the principles found in the handbook are intended to nourish and strengthen all who come to Jesus, fostering spiritual growth and renewal. This imagery is beautifully captured in the biblical verse from Jeremiah 17:8: “They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” This verse symbolizes the enduring strength and vitality of those spiritually nourished by the Word of God, much like a tree that remains vibrant and fruitful despite adverse conditions. The lush, nurturing environment of Nam Dinh serves as a fitting backdrop for the message of the BFG Handbook, reinforcing its role in guiding and sustaining faith through times of both prosperity and challenge.
Keith’s return to Vietnam was a momentous occasion, nearly forty-eight years after he had left his homeland for the United States in 1975. This visit proved to be both a personal and spiritual milestone. During his time in Vietnam, Keith uncovered profound insights into his family’s history, revealing a deeper connection to his heritage than he had previously known from his father.
Keith discovered that his ancestors had been instrumental in supporting the Catholic faith in Nam Dinh. They generously donated the land to build Phuong Duc Catholic Church and contributed to the construction of Trieu Thong Catholic Church. Nearby Phuong Duc Catholic Church stands a memorial garden dedicated to Keith’s great-grandfather, Nguyen Huy Riem, and great-grandmother, Nguyen Thi Riem. This garden serves as a testament to their unwavering faith and dedication.
Additionally, Keith learned that his family lineage includes three martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for their faith. This revelation reinforced the spiritual legacy that Keith is now part of and highlighted the deep connection between his family’s past and his current mission.
Keith’s return to Vietnam has been a powerful affirmation of God’s eternal presence and the promise made to him. This journey has significantly deepened his understanding of his mission to restore the truth and has strengthened his commitment to his divine purpose. As reflected in John 15:16, “You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.” This verse encapsulates the divine calling that Keith feels and the spiritual journey that has come full circle with his return to his ancestral land.
A remarkable aspect of God’s plan is how He orchestrates the timing of individuals’ paths to perfectly align with His divine purpose. In 2022, Fr. Bao was appointed by Bishop Vann as the rector of Christ Cathedral in Orange County. Fr. Bao’s Spiritual Uncle, Fr. John Tran, whom Keith met at Benediction in 2008, played a significant role in his journey. Fr. John was the priest who responded to Keith’s prayer by joining him in a public speaking organization, fulfilling Keith’s specific request for a priest to accompany him on this journey. Fr. John confirmed and strengthened Keith’s calling to share the gospel publicly as a spiritual speaker.
Additionally, Fr. Bao’s primary professor at St. John Seminary, Dr. Michael Downey, who played a pivotal role in helping him achieve top honors, also connected to Keith. In 2009, Keith met with Dr. Downey to discuss his BFG manuscript. Dr. Downey, recognizing the manuscript’s potential global impact, encouraged Keith to persist with his work, recognizing its global significance.
This divine alignment is echoed in the scriptures: “For the vision is for the appointed time; it will speak of the end, and it will not lie. If it delays, wait for it; it will surely come before too long” (Habakkuk 2:3) and “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
In an extraordinary turn of events, Keith connected with Fr. Bao in 2022, nearly fifteen years later. This union was a pivotal moment orchestrated by divine intervention, as it allowed Fr. Bao to play a key role in facilitating a significant part of Keith’s journey. Specifically, Fr. Bao assisted Bishop Kevin W. Vann in organizing Keith’s visit to his ancestral homeland in Nam Dinh, where Keith was formally adopted by Bishop Vann as his Spiritual Son. This adoption was not just a symbolic gesture but a crucial step in advancing God’s plan. It underscored the deep spiritual connection and commitment to fulfilling the divine mission that Keith had been entrusted with. Through Fr. Bao’s support, the visit to Nam Dinh and the adoption became essential milestones, furthering the realization of God’s purpose for him to restore the truth of our faith for the New Evangelization.
Second Sign from God: Flower Pendant
God directed Keith to present a flower pendant from his jewelry box to Bishop Vann as the second divine sign. Although Keith remains uncertain about the origins of this pendant, he is firmly convinced that St. Thérèse of Lisieux, known as “The Little Flower” or “The Little Way” of Jesus Christ, is interceding for him.
It wasn’t until his first encounter with Fr. Barry on October 1, 2019, that St. Thérèse presence became known to him. After their meeting at Mary’s Mercy Center in San Bernardino, California, an extraordinary occurrence took place. As Keith and his cousin descended the outdoor ramp of the building, they were suddenly enveloped by the fragrance of roses despite there being no roses in sight. He was initially unaware of the deeper meaning behind the miraculous event he experienced. Later that afternoon, during a conversation with his wife, Tracy revealed the true significance of the incident. Tracy revealed to him that the miracle had occurred on October 1, the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who is known as the “Little Flower” of Jesus.
This revelation deeply reinforced Keith’s belief that St. Thérèse of Lisieux was interceding for him and guiding his spiritual journey. The flower pendant, along with the unexpected and unexplained scent of roses, became powerful symbols of this divine connection. They were a constant reminder of St. Thérèse’s presence and prayers from heaven. Her promise, “When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens, I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.” further solidified Keith’s faith, affirming his belief in her ongoing spiritual guidance throughout his path.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux is known for her profound yet straightforward spiritual approach, often referred to as “The Little Way.” Her teachings emphasize discovering holiness in everyday life and placing unwavering trust in God’s love and mercy. Rather than focusing on complex theological doctrines or ornate prayers, St. Thérèse advocates for a simpler, more direct path to God—one that is accessible to all. Her approach highlights the importance of genuine connections and dialogues over rigid rules, suggesting that the essence of faith lies in embracing fundamental truths and nurturing a heartfelt relationship with the divine.
St. Thérèse’s final desire was to dedicate her life to missionary work in Vietnam, especially in the northern region, where Keith’s great-grandparents established Phuong Duc Catholic Church. Unfortunately, she passed away from tuberculosis in 1897 at the tender age of twenty-four. Her dedication to evangelization was evident in her writings, where she expressed her desire: “What we ask of him is to work for his glory, to love him and to make him loved” (Letter 220). Keith is confident that northern Vietnam will be blessed with a significant outpouring of divine grace to further the Kingdom of God for the New Evangelization. He believes that St. Thérèse’s aspirations and prayers for Vietnam will be fulfilled through God’s immense love and grace.
Pope Pius XI canonized St. Thérèse in 1925 and declared her Patron Saint of the Universal Missions in 1927. Her special message, “Way of Spiritual Childhood,” paved the way for the Second Vatican Council, a return to the Word of God. Pope Pius X (1903-1914) described St. Thérèse as “The greatest saint of modern times.” Jesus showed her how to live her vocation by fully practicing the commandment of love, enabling her to fully engage in the center heart of the Church’s mission. This will shed new light on the faith, leading to a more profound understanding of Christ’s mysteries.
“Charity gave me the key to my vocation. I understood that if the Church had a body composed of different members, the most necessary and most noble of all could not be lacking to it, and so I understood that the Church had a heart and that this heart was burning with love. I understood that it was love alone that made the Church’s members act, that if love were ever extinguished, apostles would not proclaim the Gospel and martyrs would refuse to shed their blood. I understood that love includes all vocations…. Then in the excess of my delirious joy, I cried out: “O Jesus, my Love … at last I have found my vocation; my vocation is Love!’” ~ St. Thérèse de Lisieux (Ms B, 3vº)
St. Thérèse path is not one of great undertakings but one accessible to all, known as the “Little Way.” She receives everything as “grace” because her relationship with Christ is at the center of everything. It is a journey of trust and complete surrender to God. In truth, it is a demanding journey but a path of unwavering faith, making even the most rigorous spiritual commitment feel light.
The BFG Handbook follows St. Thérèse de Lisieux’s teachings, “The Little Way,” for understanding the universal truth of God, especially in modern times, between different cultures and the creeds of other faiths. The handbook is a presentation of the Gospel that is new through its ardor, through its methods, and through its expression. Its core principles teach us that God’s way is love, guiding us to love others through the Holy Spirit. Unlike complex methods, this handbook offers a contemporary interpretation of God’s teachings, which is not a sophisticated way of getting into heaven. It is a modern realization of God’s Word, paving the way for a demoralized society to discover the truth. St. Thérèse’s aspiration to “spend her heaven doing good on earth” (Opere Complete, p. 1050) is wonderfully fulfilled through this work. Today, her spiritual influence continues to bless the world as she symbolically showers us with roses from heaven.
Third Sign from God: Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven
God directed Keith to present Bishop Vann with one of the two keys his grandmother, Nhu Pham, had given him, marking the third divine sign. The other key was given to Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles in 2017, symbolizing God’s promise that both dioceses would unite to ignite a movement for the New Evangelization. These two keys were attached to the gold cross necklace his grandmother had worn for over thirty years. During a critical moment in her life, when she became ill and could no longer speak, she removed the keys from her gold cross necklace and entrusted them to Keith, who made a promise he would use them to open the doors to heaven and build up the Kingdom of God.
Although these keys held no monetary value, Keith understood their profound sentimental significance. They were a symbol of his grandmother’s deep faith, as she had spent countless hours in prayer with these keys attached to the gold cross.
The profound significance of these keys is echoed in Matthew 16:19: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Through this passage, Keith understood the spiritual power and responsibility symbolized by the keys, further deepening his resolve to fulfill God’s divine plan.
Fourth Sign from God: JPII Identical Monstrance
Keith was moved by a divine promise placed in his heart, which led him to acquire a monstrance for his altar in 2008. This sacred monstrance has been a constant reminder of God’s presence and the assurance that the truth will be restored to all nations, fulfilling God’s promise.
In alignment with God’s will, Keith gifted the monstrance to Bishop Kevin W. Vann as a Father’s Day gift, marking it as the fourth divine sign. Having been in Keith’s care for nearly 15 years, the monstrance was now entrusted to the bishop. Almost a decade after acquiring it, Keith was astonished to discover that the monstrance was identical to the one used by John Paul II during his procession. A priest who oversees a museum of church relics in Vietnam revealed to Keith that only ten such monstrance were ever made. The priest emphasized its priceless value, noting that possessing one of the ten could draw thousands of visitors to witness it.
It is crucial to emphasize that Pope John Paul II called upon the Church to commit all its energies to a New Evangelization, urging believers to present the Gospel with a new expression suited for modern times. In his encyclical Redemptoris Missio (Mission of the Redeemer), John Paul II addressed a critical issue: the crisis in mission is not rooted in a lack of faith but rather in the content of that faith. He emphasized the necessity of arming ourselves with a renewed understanding of our beliefs, expressed in ways that resonate with our modern society.
To effectively engage in the New Evangelization, the Church requires a handbook that addresses the content of the faith for our time. Without such a resource, the Church’s mission to proclaim the Gospel may lack direction and clarity. In our modern world, it is essential to present the Gospel using a universal language that is easily understood across diverse cultures, historical contexts, and religious beliefs. This renewed expression of the Gospel is embodied in the BFG Handbook, a Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching.
Today, we see John Paul II’s vision for the New Evangelization being realized through the BFG movement. The extraordinary nature of Keith’s possession of a monstrance identical to the one used by John Paul II serves as a powerful testament that God’s promise to him will be fulfilled. This rare monstrance symbolizes the divine assurance that the truth will be restored and proclaimed to all nations through this new approach to evangelization.
Fifth Sign from God: Gold Cross
On July 2, 2022, during his public talk at Christ Cathedral on Marian Days, Keith presented the fifth and final sign from God to Bishop Kevin W. Vann. This gift was a gold cross, worn by Keith’s grandmother for over thirty years, and was the most cherished offering God had asked him to offer. The cross, given to Keith after his grandmother’s passing on August 9, 2012, is deeply meaningful, representing a lifetime of memories of her sharing biblical stories with him from a young age.
A few days before his public talk on Marian Day at Christ Cathedral, Bishop Vann handed Keith a booklet about Christ Cathedral from his personal library. Keith kept the booklet in his car for a few days until his wife, Tracy, asked if he had noticed the bishop’s coat of arms on one of the pages. Keith was astonished to discover the five signs from God matched the five symbolic images on Bishop Vann’s coat of arms: a tree with a stream of water (illustrating the BFG Handbook), a flower, keys, monstrance, and a cross. Keith initially had reservations about presenting the cross as a gift to the bishop, as he intended to hand it down to his children. Although Keith initially hesitated to present the cross to the bishop, his wife Tracy emphasized its deep symbolic connection to fulfilling God’s promise. This encouragement motivated him to present it to Bishop Vann.
Keith distinctly remembers the moment in 2007 when he fully committed to embracing the cross and following Jesus. During this pivotal time, God conveyed a divine message to Keith, revealing that a clear sign from heaven would appear once he surrendered his most cherished possessions. This transformative moment in Keith’s life was fully realized when he offered the five gifts, serving as a powerful testament to his complete surrender to the life-changing power of faith and the presence of God.
During his public talk on Marian Day, Keith presented the gold cross to Bishop Vann, recognizing this gesture as a significant part of God’s plan. He understood that this act was instrumental in preparing him to unite the faithful in the mission to restore the truth. The giving of the cross was not merely a gesture but a miraculous sign from God, inviting Bishop Vann, a devoted shepherd, to join Keith in leading and igniting the New Evangelization. This moment marked the fulfillment of the divine promise given to Keith fifteen years earlier.

2023: BFG Ministry and BFG Movement to Build the Kingdom of God.
On November 20, 2023, Keith, and his wife (Tracy) invited Christian faith leaders from Orange County to start a BFG ministry at Christ Cathedral. The announcement was made in the Christ Cathedral bulletin by the rector, Fr. Bao Thai, two weeks prior to their first BFG ministry meeting. The primary objective of the BFG ministry is to practice and strengthen the Christian faith by following the principles in the BFG Handbook. It was their hope that every church will adopt the BFG ministry to spread the Gospel beyond the church walls, reaching far and wide. This initiative will gather the faithful from all nations to ignite the BFG movement that will restore the truth of our faith for a New Evangelization.
On December 9, BFG movement leaders, Fr. Michael Barry and Keith welcomed nearly 1,000 people to a one-day conference at Christ Cathedral for those who have drifted away from their faith. Speakers at the conference were Fr. Michael Barry SS.CC., Fr. Ernest Rush, Cyndi Peterson, Emily Wilson, Tracy Hoang, and Keith Hoang, offering inspiration for deepening our trust in God. Keith and Tracy conveyed the foundational principles of the BFG Handbook to the group. They shared the way we can prepare our hearts to receive the “Flame of Love” by exercising the teachings in the BFG Handbook.
In order to receive the “Flame of Love” into our hearts, Jesus Christ Himself, it is important we first understand the biblical scriptures that lay the groundwork for our faith. It can be distilled into three primary scriptures, Mark 12:30, Mark 12:31, and Matthew 28:19, which tell us to love God, love neighbor, and make disciples, respectively. If you must take a snapshot of the Bible, these are the three most important scriptures to build up the Kingdom of God for a New Evangelization.
How can we use the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching, BFG Handbook, to understand the Word of God? To elaborate more on the Tao Te Ching, Tao means “the way,” and Te is the “power” or “virtue” that comes through the unity with the Tao. Ching means a book. Tao Te Ching is the book of way (Tao) and of how it manifests itself in the world (Te). It can be divided into two parts. The first (chapters one through thirty-seven) concerns the Tao, the way of the universe, the source of life and power in all nature, everything we call “good.” The second part of the Tao Te Ching gives further details about “Te” (chapters thirty-eight through eighty-one), which is the virtue. Virtue lives in the human soul, our mind, and the power living within us. It is our will, thinking, choices, passion, love, joy, reasoning, and conscience. “Te” is the energy or power a person can cultivate by living harmoniously with the Tao. Therefore, the Tao Te Ching can be translated as “The Way of Power,” in other words, “The Way of God by the Power of the Holy Spirit.”
In order to spread the message of the Gospel effectively, it is essential for “Tao” and “Te” to guide us in comprehending and living out the greatest two commandments we know from Mark 12:30 and Mark 12:31. In the Christian Edition of the Tao Te Ching, BFG Handbook, the Tao is “The Way” or the “Way of God” which is love. God is love. Thus, the first half of the book can teach us how to love God, in Mark 12:30. This is our Spirit’s inner life in relationship to “God or God-Conscious”: our faith, hope, discernment, peace, revelation, and wisdom to understand truth, knowledge of God, discernment, and perseverance. Our Spirit can communicate and have a deep relationship with God, empowering us to love our God with all our heart, soul, and mind.
The second half of the book, Te, teaches us, virtue. Virtue lives in the human soul. Our soul concerns our inner life in relationship to our “Own Experience”: our mind, heart, will, imagination, thoughts, desires, passions, dreams, fears, reasoning, and morals. While we can make distinctions between “soul” and “spirit,” as St. Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, they are fundamentally the same in man (CCC 367). That is, as the Church teaches, the soul signifies the spiritual principle of man. The human body is human precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul (CCC 363-364). In other words, man is the only bodily being whose soul is a spirit (animals are not spiritual), and the only Spirit which is a soul (angels do not have a body and therefore no soul). Only in humans do we find both soul and Spirit. ~ Catholic Answers.
The soul makes us living bodies, which have rational powers and separates us from other living beings. In 1 Corinthians 6:19, we know our body is the temple where the Holy Spirit lives. This Spirit is united with our soul and body, so we become spiritually alive. The Spirit transcends our bodily limitations and opens the soul toward the supernatural life of grace to be raised beyond all it deserves to communion with God. Thus, the second half of the book teaches us how we can follow our spirit to live in communion with God, so we can love our neighbors, as in Mark 12:31, “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself.”

The knowledge and practice of Tao and Te is essential for our faith. The statement “faith without works is dead” means that true faith in Christ always produces good works. Faith is a virtue, and it is something that has to be cultivated. You cannot lose your faith. We can choose to practice our faith, or we can choose not to use it.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast. ~ Ephesians 2:8-9
Faith is both a fruit of the Spirit and a gift of the Spirit, given to all humanity. If we choose to cultivate our faith, it must begin with Tao, in other words, God. It will help and guide us to know God’s love so we can love God above all things, the first greatest commandment. This love will open our hearts and enable the Power of the Holy Spirit to work in us. Te is the virtue, the power, the Holy Spirit that is our teacher, guiding our hearts to “trust” God and know He is love. Trusting and knowing that God is love will transform our hearts to love not only God but others, which is the second greatest commandment.
When we respond by loving God and loving others, we desire to do good, desiring Jesus Christ in our hearts, the Flame of Love. This is living “The Way of God by the Power of the Holy Spirit.” By the fruits of the Holy Spirit, we are called to walk in holiness and make “disciples of all nations. Therefore, understanding the teachings of Tao and Te in the BFG Handbook is much like the Bible that can be summed up in a single word: love. Love serves as the fundamental principle that will open our hearts, allowing the Holy Spirit to strengthen and deepen our faith. It will equip us with the right tools to move forward with our God-given mission. The Church is sent to all peoples, all lands, and cultures. These are the last words spoken by Christ before His ascension into heaven, along with His promise to the Apostles and their successors that He would remain with them until the end of time.
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” ~ Matthew 28:19.
The Equation for Building the Kingdom of God:
1st Love God + 2nd Love Neighbor + 3rd Make Disciples = Building the Kingdom of God
In summary, instead of worrying about whether the BFG Handbook is suitable for you, it’s more important to consider if it is improving the quality of your life. This handbook is intended to establish shared common principles that facilitate a deeper understanding of loving God and our neighbor. It is not a different Gospel, but a presentation of the Gospel that is new through its expression, through its methods, and through its ardor. This “new” understanding written for our modern times will help prepare our hearts to receive the greatest gift, Jesus Christ.

In 1610, Our Lady of Good Success conveyed to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres that a time would come, shortly after 2000, when all hope would seem lost. Therefore, to save souls, we must have a fundamental understanding of loving God and loving our neighbors to become missionaries and make disciples. This is the Great Awakening Fr. Michael Barry wrote about in an email to Keith:
“The Lord has a very specific mission for you. He is asking you to bring His Church back, back to the true faith, back to true and chaste marriage, back to true priesthood, back to chastity, back to the Holy Spirit. How to do that is a great awakening. There can be no compromising anymore. Eucharist is vital. I will offer a mass once a month for you and your family. Tomorrow, I will offer it for you.”
A noteworthy mention from Fr. Michael is the Eucharist. He recognizes that only one-third of U.S. Catholics believe in transubstantiation. As Catholics, the Eucharist is essential and vital, believed to be the true presence of Jesus Christ through the Eucharist prayer. This mystical union between the believer and Christ strengthens our faith and helps us grow in holiness. The Eucharist is central to the Catholic faith, providing a way for Catholics to connect with Christ, give thanks for his sacrifice, and receive His grace. If we don’t prepare our hearts to receive Jesus Christ in a simple and easy way people can understand, we will never know His true presence in the Eucharist. Therefore, it is essential to begin by establishing the fundamental principles in order for our generation to comprehend the teachings of the Bible and welcome Jesus Christ into their hearts. The BFG Handbook serves as an essential tool that will fulfill these needs, imparting key concepts in a universally welcoming language they can adpot. It expands into various cultures and beliefs of different religions while also aligning with the moral and cultural values of contemporary society to awaken our souls by exploring the beauty, goodness, and truth inherent in our faith. Our Blessed Mother Mary desires to spread the Flame of Love, which is Jesus Himself, to all hearts, thereby unveiling the mystery of the Eucharist.

2024: The Gathering of God's People: Our Call to Holiness
In 2007, Keith committed his entire heart to following Jesus and carry the cross. He understood that this was a lifelong journey, with the possibility of never witnessing the results of his dedication. God promised Keith there would be a clear sign of His presence the day He calls together the faithful from the East to the West to spread the gospel. When Keith realized the five signs from God matching the five symbolic images from Bishop Kevin W. Vann’s coat of arms, it was evident that His presence was unmistakable, assuring Keith that he is on the right path and not alone. This was a powerful confirmation God’s hand was guiding him every step of the way … toward the promise to Keith that our heavenly Father would use him to restore the truth to all nations. This is the start of a great movement that will transform the hearts of all people and build up the kingdom of God.
Today, in Vietnam, we are witnessing God’s act of opening the door to gather the faithful, calling God’s people to holiness. President Thuong of Vietnam, who took office in March 2023, has expressed his government’s respect for the freedom of belief and religion of the people. President Thuong and Cardinal Parolin have signed a historic agreement to allow a representative of the Pope to live in Vietnam and establish an office there. This is the first time such an arrangement has been made since the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. On December 23, 2023, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Marek Zalewski, as Vietnam’s first Papal Representative. This significant appointment establishes him as the head of the “Permanent Office of the Holy See in Vietnam.” It marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Holy See. The president shares the desire of the country’s seven million Catholics to welcome the Pope, as he was deeply impressed by his previous meeting with Pope Francis and Cardinal Parolin during a visit to the Vatican in July 2023.
On January 11, 2024, Bishop Vann, Fr. Bao, and Keith returned to Vietnam from the year before. The people welcomed them back to Phuong Duc Church in Nam Dinh with great excitement. A year earlier, Bishop Vann committed to support the construction of a new pastoral center and came to see the blueprints presented by the church council. He approved a three-story pastoral center to be completed. In addition, the bishop made another commitment to the reconstruction of Trieu Thong Catholic Church.
Keith felt great joy when the bishop promised to help complete the two construction projects. The unshakable faith of his ancestors responsible for the initial construction of both of these two churches will not be forgotten. When the bishop told Keith it was his faith that brought them to Vietnam, he knew God’s divine love for the people will spread like the rivers and streams from Vietnam to all nations.
Keith had the opportunity to meet with the Catholic leader of each Vietnam region to share his vision for the BFG movement: Cardinal Pierre Nguyên of Hanoi (Norther Vietnam), Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien of Hanoi (Northern Vietnam), Văn Nhon Archbishop Joseph (Giuse), Nguyễn Chí Linh of Huế (Central Vietnam), Bishop Joseph Dang Duc Ngan of Da Nang (Central Vietnam), and Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng of Saigon (Southern Vietnam). Keith also gave them each a copy of his BFG Handbook. Fr. Nam Tran from Phuong Duc Church kindly translated Keith’s spiritual journey into Vietnamese for the church leaders to read, allowing them to share God’s promise with the congregation. Fr. Nam Tran also mentioned that the name Phuong Duc originates from the term “virtue.” Interestingly, the meaning for the Tao Te Ching is “Book of the Way and Its Virtue.” Keith believes it is not enough to tell the world to believe in God, but we must be a witness to the power and glory of God. Fr. Dominic Lộc, whom Keith met during his visit in Vietnam, commented that our witness stories draw people to God. This was evident when Fr. Bao Thai shared Keith’s story during his Homily at Phuong Duc Church, where thousands became interested in learning more. Keith saw the miracles of God taking place, gathering God’s people to proclaim the Gospel. Shortly after, many priests, religious sisters, and laypeople shared with Keith their desire to be part of the BFG movement.
Before returning to the United States, Keith visited the shrine of Our Lady of La Vang. Bishop Vann had an outdoor mass service where our Holy Mother appeared on August 17, 1798. Our Lady of La Vang, holding the Baby Jesus, appeared to the persecuted Christians seeking refuge in the forest jungle of La Vang. Keith strongly believes the blood of these Christian martyrs will carry the message of our faith to every nation, like the rivers and streams that run through Vietnam.
